**** The Passing of the Late Honourable Aide Ganasi ****

    November 8, 2016

Statement to Parliament by the Prime Minister, Hon. Peter O’Neill CMG MP, on the passing of the Late Honourable Aide Ganasi, Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament and Member for South Fly.

“It is with great sadness that this Honourable House has received word on the passing of the Late Honourble Aide Ganasi, the Deputy Speaker of this House and the Member for South Fly.

“To the Late Member’s family, and the people of South Fly, I offer on behalf of our Government, our party and our people, our condolences and sympathies.

“The Leader, as a Member of this Honourable House, served with great distinction and great honour.

“The death of a sitting Member is always very sad occasion for the Parliament.

“Today we lost a colleague and a friend.

“The Late Deputy Speaker had a lot to be proud of in the achievements that he has attained in his term as a Member of Parliament, representing one of the most challenging electorates of our country.

“Western Province has great potential, but faces many difficulties, and the Late Member for South Fly worked tirelessly for his people.

“He delivered services to remote areas, he expanded education and he improved healthcare and extended the delivery of basic services in his district.

“While we mourn the loss of our Deputy Speaker, the people of South Fly can look around them and see the hard work that he has put into his electorate as a Member of Parliament.

“Only a few weeks ago, he demonstrated how very proud he was of the work that he has done when he briefed the Government.

“He was especially his proud of the reforms and renovations that he has achieved at Daru High School and other parts of his district.

“I can commit the Government to continue the work he has began in his electorate, and ensure the people of South Fly continue to receive the services that they truly deserve.

“We all are proud to have served with him in this Honourable House.

“Again, we extend our condolences and sympathies to his family and the people of South Fly, for our Late Deputy Speaker in their time of grief.”
